Since 2009, Michele Crawford has been teaching quilting classes and presenting lectures at shows such as HMQS; Quilt Reno; NW Quilting Expo; Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival; Road to California; Sewing and Stitchery Expo; Rusty Barn shows – Phoenix and Puyallup; AQS Paducah, Branson and Daytona Beach; Quilt Festival Houston; and a variety of quilt guilds. She loves to interact with quilters, and share her tips and techniques when teaching. When the pandemic struck in 2020, Michele decided to begin a new chapter in her business career; joined the Global Quilt Connection; and began to teach virtually to guild guilds and shows.
“My students will find my classes jam packed with cutting, piecing plus pressing tips and techniques, enthusiasm, and encouragement! I want my students to have FUN, to try something new, and work at their own pace as there isn’t a “quilt police” in my classes.”
Live in Person Classes
* When you sign up for class at a show, there is usually a link on their site for the Class Supply List. If the class is through a quilt guild, there is someone in charge who will email you the Class Supply List. Please email me any questions about the class or supply list ahead of time so you will be ready for the class, and have a positive experience.* Michele’s Suggestion: Please do not cut any fabric you need to have for the class the night before as my teaching experience has proven that most students will rush through the cutting process and make mistakes.* Michele’s Suggestion: If you are taking a class where you need to bring your own sewing machine, please remember the foot pedal and power cord.
* Please know the class date, time, place and room so you are on time. Plan on being at the class at least 15 minutes ahead of time so you’re ready as I will start my classes on time.
* Once I have demonstrated what technique is being taught for the class, I walk the room to check on each student, and help as needed. Please note that I teach tips and techniques for accurate cutting, piecing, and pressing which may be different than what you’ve been taught or do yourself. Please give my suggestions a chance as that is why you are taking this class! If you decide you prefer doing things your way, that’s fine, but a “rule of thumb” is that you will probably learn at least one new way to do something in a class.
* Any class patterns or kits will be distributed at the beginning of class. Please check your class supply list to see if a fee for a pattern or kit is included in your class fee OR bring exact cash to the class to pay for the class kit or pattern.
* Please do not bring anyone else to class with you unless they are a registered student. This means no babies, children, friends or your mother (who just wants to “listen”).
* Please turn off your cell phone or put it on vibrate. If you need to use your phone, please go out in the hall as everyone else will not want to listen to your conversation.
* Please no food! Water is fine, but no coffee or carbonated drinks.

Virtual Classes
* My classes are presented LIVE using Zoom. Michele will open the Zoom room 30 minutes ahead of the class.
* Each virtual classroom seat is good for ONE viewer (students may not “sit in” if they have not paid their own fee for classes). Each student must be able to be seen and heard.
* Everyone gets a front row seat in class from the comfort of their own sewing studio with all your tools and fabrics close at hand! You’ll be able to use your best machine (instead of lugging one to a class); and have drinks and snacks whenever you like!
* My classes will use 2 or 3 different camera set-ups for easy viewing on detail work so you can see exactly what I’m teaching.
* You can meet and chat with other attendees, and make new friends from around the globe, but you don’t have to share a table or wait in line for an iron in class!
* The Class Supply List will be emailed to you by the guild person or will be on the show website where you signed up for the class. The pattern and the Zoom link will be emailed a few days prior to the class.
* I can schedule a 1-hour follow-up time slot 2 weeks after the class for any questions; and a Show ‘n Tell if desired.
* No audio and/or video recording or photographs are permitted of any kind during class because of copyright issues.
* If you haven’t used Zoom before, there are some great tutorials on Zoom. Please make sure you’ve checked your internet connection; and update your computer and Zoom link prior to the class. I am not responsible for the quality of your internet devices (computer, iPad, phone), internet quality and, connectivity issues.
* PLEASE NOTE: This is a LIVE class and will NOT be recorded. You must attend the class on the date/time specified. If you can’t attend, please contact instructor no later than 24 hours before Zoom presentation. A refund will be provided minus a 15% processing fee. No refunds will be provided after the Zoom presentation. If the instructor cannot present the live workshop because of technical issues, the workshop will be rescheduled.
