It’s Almost Spring

Hi,
Just a quick note to post to all of you who are participating in the March FabShopHop. I hope you have been “hopping along” and enjoying this virtual shop hop. It’s a perfect “event” to do just before Easter. Please note that I am posting NEW weekly specials on my site during March that will change each Saturday.

If you didn’t get to watch the CBS Sunday morning news last week, there was a segment about Ricky Tims and quilting with footage from the Houston quilt market. It was very interesting and here’s the link to view it online (copy and paste in your browser)http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/i_video/main500251.shtml?id=3942008n&channel=/sections/sunday/videoplayer3445.shtml

And, speaking of Quilt Market, I will be a first time exhibitor at the spring Quilt Market in Portland in May! Being at quilt market is such a creative rush, so this is exciting and scary at the same time. I’ve been to spring and fall market before to walk the show, and talk to manufacturers, but not as a wholesale exhibitor. I will be spending all my time between now and mid-May writing/photographing/finishing NEW patterns to sell.

Don’t worry… I’ll post all my new patterns and kits on my site for you to see. I’ll have some new spring-y kits in the next two weeks. We will be exhibiting as vendors at a couple of quilt shows coming up in WA, too.

Did you know that the US postal rates are increasing on May 12? The $4.60 flat rate priority mail envelope will increase to $4.80, and the $8.95 flat rate priority mail box will now be $9.80. It’s still a bargain for shipping quilt kits, and fabric though because of the weight. I haven’t seen what the flat rate increase will be for mailing outside the US, but I will let you know when I get the information.

As for my volunteer job with my quilt guild, I just firmed up the plans for having Linda Ballard come in April. Her lecture is on “Strip Poker” – sounds interesting as we play with 2 1/2″ wide strips of fabric instead of poker chips. I like the names of her two classes – Peppermint ‘n Sassafras, and Earth, Wind and Fire (no, not the singing group). Mary Lou Weidman (who lives here in Spokane, WA) will be at our guild meeting in July. I am so blessed to be able to meet these nationally known speakers through our guild!

Now, back to work for me. Have a great day! Remember that tomorrow is the 1st day of spring!
Piece,
Michele
