Calypso showcases the use of color and contrast by creating a strip pieced 9-patch in the block center along with a pieced corner section using 3 templates. The block is a 12″ x 12″ finished square; and the pattern is written in 4 different sizes. Use 4 different main colors with 2 alternating colors as shown! Wouldn’t this look FABULOUS in red, green and white for Christmas? Michele will also teach you how to make plastic templates for this project. * All students will need to purchase the pattern for this class.

Scrappy Carpenter Star

> Skill level: Advanced Beginner/Intermediate
> Class length: 3 or 6 hours

This is definitely a quilt block where you need to be absolutely accurate in your rotary cutting and piecing as students will be working with 1″ wide strips. This is a template free quilt by sewing strips to strips; sub-cutting and then sewing back together to create the 12″ square finished block. This is a 47″ square wall hanging where  5 blocks are sewn in one color way, and the other 4 blocks are created in a complimentary color way. Once the blocks are sewn together, there is a large “open” area for hand or machine quilting to compliment the design. A scrappy “piano key” type border is added after a frame border to complete the quilt. * All students will need to purchase the pattern for this class.

Star Power

> Skill level: Intermediate
> Class length: 6 hours

“Wish upon a star” as students create five 6″ finished square star blocks. After 3 other type of pieced blocks are added; square with a square, flying geese and half square triangles, a large star in the center of the quilt is formed. This is a template free quilt where after 4 borders are added to the quilt center, the quilt is a 44″ square finished. A great quilt for a table topper, wall hanging or for an outdoor picnic! * All students will need to purchase the pattern for this class.
